Abstract

Children’s safety in traffic is one of the key concerns of every society, especially when it comes to children of early and preschool age. However, traffic safety for children usually comes into public focus at the beginning of the school year or, unfortunately, when it is already too late – after traffic accidents have occurred. While various technical measures on roads play an important role in improving road safety, the primary responsibility still lies with the road users themselves. Their behavior has a decisive impact on the level of safety, which is why systematic upbringing and education from an early age is essential for creating traffic-aware citizens and improving road safety. Parents play a crucial role in the implementation of traffic education, as children observe and imitate their behavior in traffic and thus form their own. However, in addition to parents, kindergartens and other educational institutions also play a very important role by systematically encouraging the adoption of proper traffic behavior from the earliest age. Continuous investment in traffic education is the foundation of sustainable road safety, especially when it comes to the most vulnerable group – children.
