Abstract

The main goal of this essay is to identify and explain the differences in the representation of women in visual arts and film. For the purpose of analysis, the historical context of women's position in society, as well as in the history of art, theater, and film, is included. The analysis of gender differences also requires an examination of the diversity and particularities of these artistic fields. Differences in the representation of women pertain to women artists/actress-
es, the representation of femininity in art/film, and women's work in art and in film production.
