Sažetak

This paper presents games for learning the Glagolitic script and exploring the Glagolitic heritage. It explains the process involved in their development. The games are being created as a part of the development project The digital infrastructure model of the Old Church Slavonic Institute – DigiSTIN. The main goal of the project is to develop the website stin.hr into one of the central hubs for information and education about the Croatian Glagolitic script and Glagolitism in general. Games are one of the most popular modern media and a favorite form of entertainment, but they can also be effectively used for educational purposes. Compared to traditional media such as books and films, games offer the advantage of interactivity, which is particularly appealing to younger generations (especially Generations Z and α). The Glagolitic games which are being developed within the project vary in type and include multiple-choice quizzes, drag-and-drop games, fill-in-the-blank games, crosswords, and memory games. The content of these games is equally diverse, ranging from learning words, letters, numbers, and grammar to getting acquainted with Croatian Glagolitic monuments, important Glagolitic scholars, Glagolitic centers, and the history of Glagolitism. The development process requires collaboration between experts in Croatian Church Slavonic and the history of Glagolitism and information science experts with advanced digital competencies to transform linguistic and historical content into engaging and educational games. Most of the games are currently under development. The process of creating these games consists of several steps, starting with identifying appropriate content for games, conceptualizing games, checking available technologies, and implementing these technologies to create games. These steps include development and design, testing, and finally publishing the games. The development of new Glagolitic games is planned for the entire duration of the DigiSTIN project. New content will be created continuously, and the games will be updated even after the release of their first version. As soon as they are created and tested, the initial versions of the games will be made publicly available on the website of the Old Church Slavonic Institute (stin.hr/ igre). This page also hosts previously developed games for learning the Glagolitic script, such as Tetris, memory, word search, and target-hitting games.
