Sažetak
In the introductory part of this article the emergence of Sven Adam Ewin, an anonymous poet who posted on Facebook, will be contextualized in short. Although he has published seven printed collections of poetry, in the Croatian cultural circles he has been primarily regarded as an “internet poet”. This article analyses four of his poems (Judita i Holoferno; Moj Marule, ja odoh na pivo; Povratak u budućnost, Marku Maruliću; Mom dragom poetskom ocu (Marku Maruliću, s ljubavlju)), which establish intertextual relationships with Marulić and his verses in the various manner. It will be argued that in Sven Adam Ewin’s poetry Marulić is represented as an unquestionable literary figure and national bard, but at the same time Ewin’s attitude to Marulić’s magnificience remains at least ambivalent. While it seems that Ewin’s Marulić, as well as the tradition of Croatian poetry in general, deserves respect, the anonymous poet aims at establishing an egalitarian dialogue with the old bard whose greatness is thereby ironized. By seemingly playing around with Marulić, Ewin’s poems are actually deemed as a challenge to the national culture, in which authorities are declaratively acknowledged, but literature is increasingly less read and the language is becoming more and more parochial. Nevertheless, despite their ambivalence Sven Adam Ewin’s poems dedicated to Marulić, as well as the entire work of this enigmatic poet, undoubtedly point to his affirmative relationship toward tradition and continuity.
