Sažetak
The paper discusses Stjepan Šešeljʼs drama (written in 1976/1977 and published in 2013) about circumstances in which Judita (written in 1501 and published in 1521) by Marko Marulić emerged. In the drama those circumstances are related to the Croatian Glagolitic tradition. The first research question addresses representation of Marulić and the Glagolites as well as relation between fiction and reality in constructing their relationship. The second research question examines quotation as the predominant instance of intertextuality. Quotations of Marulićʼs, Glagolitic and other texts are presented together with their sources, function and contribution to the story that the drama aims to convey. Finally, the language in which characters in analysed historical drama speak is also researched, especially in regard to the process of its archaization. Šešeljʼs drama demonstrates how both content and language of historical texts can inspire production of the new ones, thus confirming their own creative potential in the modern times.
