Dual Forms in Marulić’s Judith

Sažetak
The article has shown that the dual has been partially kept in Judith in declension only, precisely only in some forms and in a little over a third of all examples. It is mostly preserved in the categories where today dual leftovers are encountered in the Standard and in many dialects, only in more such cases than today. It is still a minimally morphologically open category due to preservation of some semantically neutral forms alongside these typical ones. This partial and weaker preservation of the dual applies to both single forms and syntagms, mirroring the weaker retention of the dual in the Čakavian of the 16th century than in the previous centuries, with signals that many peculiarities and the dual in entirety would vanish from the language as the time progressed.
