Sažetak
The aim of this paper is to present the possibilities and challenges of integrating digital technologies into the practice of educational rehabilitators, with an emphasis on the development of attention, working memory, self-regulation, and providing support to families in the digital age. Digital technology is becoming increasingly present in the daily lives of children and adolescents, offering new opportunities as well as potential risks for developmental and emotional competencies. A literature review was conducted for publications between 2020 and 2024 using the databases PubMed, Scopus, ERIC, and Hrčak, applying relevant MeSH terms: Attention, Child Development, Digital Technology, Educational Rehabilitation, Self-Regulation, Parental Support, and Primary Health Care Key earlier theoretical works were also included due to their relevance to the conceptual framework.
A total of 60 sources were analysed, of which 35 were selected as representative examples of current trends and theoretical frameworks. Results indicate that carefully planned and targeted application of digital tools can foster the development of attention, working memory, and self-regulation, whereas excessive exposure to digital content may lead to developmental regression and the emergence of somatization symptoms. Educational rehabilitators play a key role in educating parents, structuring digital routines, and ensuring interdisciplinary collaboration within primary health care. It is concluded that the development of systematic support models is necessary to enable balanced and developmentally appropriate use of digital technology. Interdisciplinary collaboration and parental empowerment are crucial for the safe and effective integration of digital tools into the daily lives of children, while simultaneously promoting holistic development and emotional stability.
