The Myth of a Woman: The Obedient and Submissive Woman in Iran (Summary)

Sažetak
This paper explores the position of women in Iran throughout history, from antiquity to the modern era, with a particular focus on the myth of the woman as an obedient and subordinate figure in society. Despite patriarchal structures, women have participated in economic, cultural, and political processes, often as agents of change and resistance. By analyzing key historical periods, from the Achaemenid, Qajar, and Pahlavi dynasties to the Islamic Revolution and the present–day Islamic Republic, the paper highlights the complex dynamics of women’s engagement and reveals how the issue of women in Iran is a central part of the struggle for social justice and democracy. It argues that without women, resistance movements against the regime would not be sustainable.
