Sažetak
This study aimed to examine the effects of digital game addiction on family communication. In the study conducted in the case of Karaman province, the relationship between individuals’ digital game-playing habits and communication styles between family members was analyzed.
A questionnaire was used to gather data from 500 residents of Karaman province who were over the age of 18, and the study was carried out using a descriptive survey technique. The analysis employed the Kruskal-Wallis, Pearson, ANOVA, t-test, confirmatory factor analysis, and explanatory factor analysis. The findings reveal that as the level of digital game addiction increases, communication within the family is negatively affected. Significant differences were found especially in the negative communication dimension.
As a result, it was observed that digital game addiction weakens family interaction and reduces the level of empathy and open communication between family members.
