Abstract

This paper examines “ecological conversion” in contemporary Catholic teaching as
a normative–pastoral mechanism that links magisterial diagnosis to practicable action.
It outlines Francis’ integral ecology (Laudato si’) and the urgency of Laudate
Deum, then shows how Leo XIV sharpens the focus on institutional responsibility,
implementable policies, and publicly visible initiatives. In a post–secular horizon,
ecological conversion is approached as a motivational resource that becomes publicly
relevant only when translated into intelligible reasons and verifiable practices.
The argument is complemented by the logic of “small steps” and by an illustrative
case study of the Movement for Ecological Conversion in Bosnia and Herzegovina,
highlighting bottom–up formats, hybrid alliances, and feasible projects. Methodologically,
the study combines qualitative analysis of key documents and selected public
statements with an illustrative case–based operationalization.
