Cooperation and Relations between Croatian and Slovenian Catholic Academic Youth at the Beginning of the 20th Century

Sažetak
The Croatian-Slovenian cooperation of Catholic-oriented academic youth in the pre-war period was distinctly dynamic, not only in Zagreb and Ljubljana but also in other university centers of the Monarchy (Vienna and Graz). As part of the Catholic movement at the beginning of the 20th century, the youth were primarily organized to defend Christian values and subsequently to address social issues through their academic societies, meetings, and courses. The main goal was to preserve Christian values among youth and in society in the face of the growing influence of liberalism, as well as to promote social engagement among the wider population. In this joint cooperation of Croatian and Slovenian student societies, Croats looked to Slovenians as a model and drew inspiration from them. In addition to cooperation in the social sphere, on the eve of the First World War, ideas of political rapprochement between Slovenians and Croats within the framework of the Yugoslav idea were expressed in the student journals Zora and Luč.
