Abstract

The transition from kindergarten to primary school for children with disabilities requires a planned and collaborative approach in which parents and educational professionals from preschool and primary school institutions jointly coordinate support and the adaptation of the educational environment, thereby facilitating the child’s successful inclusion in the new school environment. This paper aims to provide an overview of current knowledge on the participation of parents of children with disabilities and professionals during the transition period from preschool institutions to primary school, as well as to identify key factors that contribute to a successful transition. All conclusions and recommendations are based on the analysis of relevant literature and legal frameworks, both Croatian and international, as well as on previous research addressing the transition of children with disabilities.
