Sažetak

The article is the part of Report of the Republic of Croatia submitted to The Eleventh United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Crimianal Justice (Bangkok, 18.-25. April 2005) in the seope of substantive item 5, titled "Making standard work: fifty years of standard-setting in crime prevention and criminal justice". In this article the author examines the legal position of young offenders and related proceedings in the relevant judicial bodies in the Republic of Croatia, compares solutions of the most important issues with recommendations in international United Nations documents such as the UN Standard Minimum Rules for the Administration of Juvenile Justice (The Beijing Rules, 1985) and the Convention of the Rights of the Child (1989). At the end, he determines the extent to which the Croatian juvenile criminal law and judiciary are harmonized with standards from existing international agreements, primariry the UN Standard Minimum Rules for the Administration of Juvenile Justice.
