Sažetak
The research has been carried out with the aim of obtaining the size of the parametars which describe ventilatory lung
function in young sailors and waterpolo players. Furthermore, it attempts to define the differences in lung capacities
and volumes between young sportsmen and control group of non sportsmen of the same age.
The sample of experimental groups consisted of eleven year old sailors and waterpolo players, whereas the control
group consisted of eleven year old non sportsmen.
The sample of variables consisted of six variables of ventilatory lung function: inspiratory vital capacity, forced vital
capacity, forced expiratory volume in one second, forced flow rates at 50% FVK, forced flow rates at 25% FVK, peak
flow, two antropometic measures (height and weight of the body) and examinee age.
To check the difference one way analysis of variance and discriminant canonical analysis has been performed. The
analysis results of ventilatory functions show that a significant contribution to the difference between sportsmen and
non sportsmen groups is due to the vast majority of variables of ventilatory lungs functions.
The results obtained by this research show the positive effect of sport activity on the development of ventilatory
parametars by young sportsmen.
