Sažetak
In the last twenty years there has been recorded a rise in the number of containers and quantity of liquid and general
cargo traffic in inland waterways [4]. Density of traffic of the world inland waterway is significant, particularly because
of effectiveness in comparison with other types of transportation. Increasing the quantity of traffic inland waterways
is not accompanied by an appropriate development of the existing procedures of search and rescue. Therefore, the
search and rescue in the inland waterways are considered as poorly developed. In the maritime traffic International
Maritime Organization (IMO) provides equipment such as boats and liferafts. Inland waterways in practice take
over such equipment in whole or in part from seagoing vessels. Such equipment is considered to be insufficiently
adjusted.
This paper has clearly analyzed some elements of the safety of navigation as well as suggested new ways to adapt
the equipment for SAR in inland waterways.
