EDUCATIONAL POLICY WORK INSTEAD OF THE DEPOLITISATION OF EDUCATION

Sažetak
In this paper, the author explains the difference between educational policy, the politics of education, and governance in education. Educational policy deals with questions of who is going to be educated, what will education include (its contents), and who will control the educational system. The politics of education deals with ideologies, interests, decision-making processes, and the voting patterns that affect education. Governance deals with management
capacities, coordination and responsibility for achieving the collective objectives of education. These three types of activities are interdependent and cannot be strictly separated. The author’s key thesis is that educational policy is continuously constructed and maintained by its participants, so it is not something that can be reduced to ministerial decisions and implementation. Therefore,
the author considers educational policy work. He shows how educational policies are created and implemented, and how they can be differentiated. He especially focuses on answering the following questions: who takes part in working on these policies, and where are these policies created? He warns that the depolitisation of education can lead to education no longer being an issue of public political activities. The author asks what the alternatives are to this
public discussion and to work on educational policies.
