Sažetak
The Noise Protection Act was published in Narodne novine (Official Gazette) No. 30, issued on 9 March 2009. The Croatian Parliament passed the Noise Protection Act at the assembly held on 20 February 2009. The Act came into force on 17 March 2009. The Act contains 27 articles which specify the «measures to be taken in order to avoid, prevent or diminish harmful health effects caused by environmental noise, including noise disturbance…». The Act is harmonized with EU legislation (EU legal system and legal acts of the Council of Europe). The old Noise Protection Act (N. N., No. 20/03.) has been withdrawn and is not longer in effect. In the interim period, sub-Act regulations will be in force until new regulations are passed. Several obligations regarding the environment have been imposed upon particular subjects (offices of local and regional government, organs of the State and many physical persons and corporations performing registered business activities). The most important documents contained in the Act are a fundamental noise map and several action plans. Conditions to be met by corporations performing expert work in noise protection are currently under discussion. Monetary penalties in case of a breach of regulations have been set out. Inspections are to be conducted by the Sanitary Inspection Department, under administrative supervision of the Ministry of Health.
