Sažetak
This investigation was conducted on 46 young alpine
skiers (24 boys and 22 girls) and its aim was to determine
correlation between the motor acrobatic skills and success
in alpine skiing. All the participants were in continuous
training and competition in Croatian ski cup in younger
age categories.Variable sample included nine elements of
acrobatics as well as achieved results in disciplines slalom
and giant slalom. The level of motor acrobatic skills was
evaluated by three independent judges, while success in
alpine skiing was assessed through the ranking of
Croatian ski association in the mentioned categories. The
metric characteristic and the judge's objectivity was
calculated prior to determination of correlation between
motor skills and alpine skiing success. For this analysis
Spearman's correlation coefficient was used. Results
showed high degree of correlation between motor
acrobatic skills and alpine skiing success. It can be
concluded that mentioned skills contribute to success of
young alpine skiers and therefore are useful in training
process.
