Sažetak

Th e implementation of quality management systems is motivated primarily by the
need of gaining additional competitive advantage and better business results. All other reasons
for implementation such as: precondition for new jobs (the case of suppliers), marketing
eff ect, improving the satisfaction of customers and employees etc. should be refl ected
in the business result. Unfortunately the situation is not that simple because many studies
have shown failures in quality management systems try to accomplish these goals. Th e aim
of this paper is to put forward and explain key aspects of such failures and by doing so
make it easier for quality managers to implement, manage, improve and transform their
quality management systems. Th e paper consists of two main parts. Th e fi rst part summarizes
the results of previous research on quality eff ectiveness, while the second analyzes the
key moderators of the relationship between quality and business results. At the end some
suggestions for quality managers are given regarding quality systems eff ectiveness.
