Sažetak

In this short article based on the recent scholarship, the author investigates the role that the Croatian ruler played in the work of the Ecclesiastical Synods held in Split in 925 and 928. The first part of the article analyses the position that a ruler held in the late Carolingian Age, especially his relationship to the Church and the Pope. In this light, the second part discusses the role that the Croatian ruler had in the holding of these synods and the eventual enforcing of their decrees.
