Sažetak
School principality is a highly responsible and at the same time relative stesfullproffesion. In this paper we have studied relationships between stress, health status and physical activity in the sample of the elementary school principals on the territory of the Republic of Croatia. The sample of subjects consisted of 225 subjects,
of whom 130 females (51 ± 7 years of age), and 87 males (54 ±8 years of age). All subjects were tested on the self administered questionnaire, asking for health status, physical activity, leisure time sports, alcohol and cigarettes consumption. Data were
processed using the descriptive procedures, analysis of the differences between genders, correlation and multiple regression analysis. In males, the longer worktime as as school principal is significantly related to lower working capacities. Stress perceivement of the profession is elated to negative perception of the own health status. Physical activity decrease with age, while higher physical engagement decreases the self perception of the characteristic occupational stress. Future studies should investigate the influence of the physical activity and exercising on specific health problems within the sample of school principals.
