Application of surface-mounted radiators to reduce local heating of ferromagnetic tanks of power transformers

Abstract
Local heating in parts of ferromagnetic tanks of power transformers can occur in cases of concentration of magnetic fluxes from magnetic shunts and from multi-ampere leads. It is proposed to reduce such heating by surface-mounted finned radiators made of aluminium with a flat base. This reduction is provided by heat exchange between the part of the tank and the radiator and its
cooling with ambient air. The results of numerical modelling and examples of practical application are presented.
