Abstract

Life of the most depicted and written about queens, Queen Victoria, was full of many whirls that set her life on a path that was never to be walked by herself. She was always accompanied by shadow figures such as her mother, Sir Conroy, or even her own husband, in the game of power, dominance, and even love. Her life could be justly divided into two parts that sketch a disturbing portrayal of the most powerful women of her times as a woman controlled by the aforementioned figures, and as one finally liberated from the ties binding and limiting her freedom. The Two Victorias – from constraint to liberation focuses on these parts of the Queen’s life discovering all the bonds that restricted as well as shaped the character of the Grandmother of Europe, and in the end led to her being and feeling liberated from them.
