Abstract

This paper identifies the problematic relationship between children’s art and kitsch from the perspective of the differentiation of the two fields. In general, the complex problem lies in identifying signs of high and low quality in works addressed to children. This paper begins with the rather
troublesome formulation of who the addressee is, and what constitutes the artistic field addressed to children. Furthermore, what complicates some of the signs of aesthetic communication with children includes the simplicity of the message and the conservatism of creative methods. This paper attempts to outline different approaches to these areas of art and kitsch and demonstrates how hard, but also how necessary it is to identify both parts of the creation, considering the nature of the present children’s world.
