Abstract

The mechanism of ionization and diffusion in nonstationary plasma column is analyzed theoretically by the aid of Schottky's diffusion theory and application of single Langmuir probe theory. Schottky's theory is shown to be a good tool for estimating rapid variation of gas pressure when the electron temperature is known. The results are in good agreement with experimental measurements.
