Disorder contribution to fusion entropy

Abstract

Correlations of volume changes with fusion entropy for substances with spherical, linear and general molecules are presented. The separation of basic disorder and volume contributions has been explained by means of molecular degrees of freedom. A theoretical model of fusion for liquid metals is discussed.
