Preliminary considerations on the starting points for contemporary scientific research of environmental history in Kosovo and Metohija in the works of serbian scholars

Abstract
Starting from the widely accepted definitions and methodology of environmental history, the paper analyzes the state and potential for research in the domain of this relatively new discipline within the territory of Kosovo and Metohija. Preliminary considerations have shown that in the scientific works of Serbian researchers there are a considerable number of papers, even those directly related to the territory of Kosovo and Metohija, which could be classified under ecological history according to the topic, but that there are few researches that are completely methodologically based on the principles of this discipline. Especially noticeable is the lack of cooperation between different scientific fields, which is necessary in order to obtain the exact interdisciplinary research required by the complex topic of the relationship between man and his natural environment in the past. At the same time, it can be concluded that in existing scientific writings there is a good foothold for further development of the discipline, whose future is undoubtedly in connecting scientists from different fields of research, but also in regional cooperation.
