Abstract
In the current turbulent environment, full of dependencies but also vulnerabilities, special emphasis is placed on security in economic relations. The present article investigates the relationship between domestic agricultural inputs and selected determinants of domestic food self-sufficiency. We consider self-sufficiency measurement as intermediate use and final consumption of domestic food products. We apply a fixed-effects regression analysis. Among the determinants of cost competitiveness, we included wages, taxes, and subsidies in the agricultural sector. Supplies of domestic agricultural inputs are the most important determinant affecting food self-sufficiency. For the other variables, the theoretical assumptions of the cost competitiveness theory of the Leontief paradox are discussed.
