Abstract

This paper analyzes Bashkim Shehu’s Angelus Novus through the lens of intermediality, tracing its dialogue with Paul Klee’s painting and Walter Benjamin’s interpretation. Shehu reconfigures the angel as a narrative device that links Albanian dictatorship trauma with European modernist thought. By pairing Benjamin’s exile with Mark Gjoka’s suffering under communism, the novel situates local memory within global catastrophe, showing how intermediality bridges art, history, and philosophy.
