Abstract

This article is a part of a larger work dealing with relationship between theology and poverty in the theoretical and practical acting of the now already “cult” Peruan Latin-American theologist Gustavo Gutierrez. Th e goal of this paper is to emphasize the social sin of oppression of the powerless with a clear mark that it is not question here of poverty as a virtue of humility but of violent usurpation and extortion of human freedom given to man by God, and this in favour of private interests of particular economic-political groups and cliques: those who in the present moment lead the contemporary world towards a humanistic disaster and spiritual schizophrenia.
