Abstract

At the beginning of the article the author considers recent works of Peter Sloterdijk and Ulrich Beck who want to outline the cosmopolitan culture and civilization of peace and tolerance, and also of cooperation which would be suitable for the present situation. The author points to certain problems, limitations and deficiency of their views and suggestions. He turns, in his searching for the answer about the meaning and value of faith for the modern world, to the work of René Girard, and illustrates his importance through the consideration of the problem of the factual implementation of human rights. The article ends with the defense of solidary personalism and with the consideration of the meaning of faith and religion for its realization on the one hand, and with a contribution to the answer about the proper faith and religion at present times on the other.
