Abstract

The paper presents an outline of a part of sources for the research of social work in Croatia from 1900 to 1945 that are available in the Croatian state archives and the National and University Library. It presents the holdings containing the material obtained through the operation of the state and public administration in the area of social policy, as well as civil voluntary and humanitarian organisations, foundations and professional organisations connected with social work. It also mentions some publications in which individual archival materials were published or analysed. In the second part of the paper the author considers the possibilities of researching the history of early forms of social work within social history, but also contemporary approaches to the research of the relation of power between the providers of social care and their clients in terms of their class, gender or religious differences.
