Abstract

This paper surveys the existing and related published material concerning Ottoman rule in Slavonia and Srijem during the period between 1521-1699. After the introduction about the state of research of Ottoman sources for this region and period, the author lists institutions and collections where these sources are to be found. In following part of the paper the most important Ottoman archivcal sources are examined one by one according to the type and date of production with notes about their content and existing published versions or studies. The paper stresses the paramount importance of the Ottoman Archive of Prime Minister's Office in Istanbul, especially its enormous collection of tax registers, for past and future research of Ottoman rule in Slavonia and Srijem.
