Abstract
Political violence and assassination as its most extreme form draw exceptional attention of general and expert public. In the process of victimization of a prominent political actor, one can identify certain stages, ranging from circumstances that constitute a reason; to omissions and mistakes made by secu-rity providers as well as dysfunction of services. By structuring a model and methodological frame-work of analysis, based on selected historical cases, prerequisites are created for identifying sensitive - critical points in the operation of the security system. Making variables recognizable enables a sys-tematic and precise approach in making security assessments as a basic activity of the bodies involved in the protection of the so-called protected persons; encourages self - criticism; and increases effi-ciency and synergistic effects of the security system.
