Abstract

In this paper a formal model is used for the description and assessment of prototypicality of mainly linguistic knowledge, applicable for second language. The proposed model is derived from the formal representation of cognitive conceptual space with respect to how they would be classified using the principles of cognitive linguistics' prototype theory and fuzzy set theory. This model introduces new measures for the level of representativeness from different perspectives in prototype and vertical plurilinguism as well as quantitative analysis and error assessment of concept classification on different levels of language processing --- semantics, syntax, morphology and phonology. The model is first introduced and described on the semantic level; then its application to other levels of language processing is proposed. The application of the model is not described in detail for each of the other levels; rather, an overview of some typical errors on different levels is given, which can be formally typified and quantified. A large area for further development and adjustment of the proposed theory is given.
