Abstract

The obtained results on a sample of 180 pupils of primary school lower grades, 160 pupils of primary school higher grades and 226 students of the first and second grades of secondary school in Split give us the freedom to conclude: dismorphisms of the thorax occur relatively seldom in children and younger adolescents, which are, due to the estetic nature of that deformity, wrongfully neglected, compared to dismorphic changes of the posture, which are much more exposed. Depending on the place and size of the convexity or concavity of the thorax bone the physiologic deformities of certain organs placed in the thorax are possible to occur. In younger adolescents the thorax deformities can cause strong psychoemotional conflicts.
The choice of which method of treatment to use depends on the level and shape of the deformity, as well as on the personal characteristics. Kinesiotherapy as a method of choice together with the use of thorax stays (inoperable treatment) in the treatment of flexible forms of pectus carinatum and pectus excavatum can be justified and it can be given an advantage to, concerning that the child with the beginning indications of the deformity of the chest is discovered as early as possible and is treated with the complex kinesiotherapeutic treatments.
