Abstract

The work deals with teleological and pragmatic connection of artistic and technical area of education with general mandatory education. On the one hand, The European tradition of craft as a school subject, which represents didactic embodiment of art and technics, has been taken as a theoretical framework. On the other hand, the nonexistence of such school subject in Croatian School System has been determined as a problem of the educational system, but also that of empirical research. The research conducted on the sample of primary-school children has indicated a statistically signifi cant positive correlation between success achieved in Technical and Art Education (r = 0,433, p < 0,001). That connection has been interpreted, thus taking theoretical conclusions and assumptions into consideration, as a need for an integrated approach to art and technics programming.
