Abstract

This work introduces the Brain Gym method and the effi cacy of its application in work with children with specifi c learning diffi culties. Even though pupils with specifi c learning diffi culties are often considered unsuccessful, the practice indicates that they are as a rule effi cient in completing their tasks, managing every situation, and that they are not always and with all people unsuccessful. The environment has to be motivating which is mostly teachers’ responsibility in their use of special teaching methods to assist better acquirement of class material or even, bearing in mind the specifi city of pupil’s diffi culty, in tolerating ‘’bad reading and writing’’ and approving the pupil for even the slightest progress.
Brain Gym is a new method of psychophisical relaxation and comprises 26 locomotive activities including the system of fi ve steps, which stimulates sensomotoric development, sensor and sensomotoric integration, which results in effi cient learning. Brain Gym helps to reactivate neuron relations which had not been established in the earlier age. Adjusted functioning of all brain areas, and generally the body and mind system, lead to improvements. Although the causes of pupils’ reading and writing diffi cultues are yet not familiar - despite the possible claim that they are multifactural – it has been determined that this specifi c method has a positive impact. It is adopted in many contries and its application in Croatia is still on its onset.
