Abstract

The aim of this investigation was to establish whether there is a difference in the sources of stress, the strategies used to face stress and life satisfaction between primary school teachers teaching in lower grades and those teaching in higher grades. The investigation was carried out in eight primary schools in Zagreb on a sample of 180 teachers (84 of them teaching in lower grades and 96 of them in higher grades of primary school).
The results of the t-test have shown that there is no statistically significant difference in the sources of stress, the strategies used to face stress or in life satisfaction. The results of multiple regression analysis have shown that facing focused on the problem and facing focused on emotions are significant predictors of life satisfaction. Teachers who choose problem-focused strategies have shown a higher level of life satisfaction, whereas those choosing to focus on emotions seem to have lower life satisfaction.
