IN TERNET AND ON LIN E GAMBLIN G ADDICTION – HOW TO PREVENT THEM?

Abstract
Online gambling is a new form of games of chance and addiction. It has entered our homes and become popular with children and adolescents, offering false hopes of high wins at games such as roulette, poker, betting and other forms of gambling.
After providing a short presentation of the pros and cons of the internet and a definition of online gambling and describing how young people develop an addiction for it, the author points at how young people become victims of gambling. He provides specific instructions for parents regarding finding out if their child is an online gambler and what measures to take to prevent it or to cure their addiction to online gambling. He pleads for compromise when trying to reach a solution, without the use of force, intimidation, punishment and threats. By giving an example of a father, who after finding out about his child’s addiction successfully solves the problem, the author recommends that parents should act in a similar way in case they end up in a similar situation.
