Abstract

In 2010, archaeological reconnoitring was continued jointly by experts from the Našice Regional Museum and the Institute of Archaeology in Zagreb. This time, the cadastral municipality of Podgorač was reconnoitred. 19 archaeological sites were documented, of which 6 belong to prehistoric periods, 9 to the Middle Ages, and 4 to both. Most of the sites were already known from before, while 3 are new.
At three sites, trial-trenching had been conducted between 1970 and 1980. These are: the Starčevo culture settlement of Gaj; the Ražište settlement, which belongs to a special type of Sopot culture (Neolithic sites); and the late Litzen pottery and late Pannonian encrusted pottery Breške settlement (beginning of the middle Bronze Age). The archaeological prospecting of this cadastral municipality will be continued.
