Abstract

With a sUrface of 11.250m2, the cemetery at St. Saviour at the source of the Cetina River is the largest mediaeval cemetery ever discovered in Dalmatia. The exact number ofunearthed graves unjortunately cannot be determined due to some missing facts in the existing records, mostly inconsistent enumeration of "etažni" Rraves and graves that are placed one above the other. This is particularly evident on the general map of tbe cemetery. The cemetary was tbought to have 1.162 graves which is not the exact figure because on the basis ofourfacts, the number of uncovered graves was presumably between 1200 and 1300. The catalogue covers a total of 242 graves with burial finds and 205 individual finds whose circumstances are unknown. When entering these finds in the museum inventary, some mistakes were made, but thesefacts were nevertheless referred to later in nearly all professional papers about the cemetery at St Saviour. All finds in the catalogue are identified according to the original sketch from the research diaries. Items that were misplaced since then are given only by their outlines. Some of the lost finds were never drawn before nor were they ever entered. Therefore the catalogue holds only their data from diaries which should always be kept in mind.
