Abstract

In three periods during 2011 (May 6-10, June 7-9, September 10-12) I conducted research into the jumping spider fauna (Araneae: Salticidae) in Paklenica NP and its borderline areas. The research included all the relevant habitats in ten main localities. This was the first research of spiders inside a protected area in the Republic of Croatia. It will benefit the classification of the living world and the protection of Paklenica NP. I have determined 35 taxa in 16 genera, to be precise, 34 taxa and one endemic subtaxon. This constitutes
42.1 % of the currently known jumping spider fauna in the Republic of Croatia. There are 29 taxa that are new for Paklenica NP, 5 of them also new for the fauna of the Republic of Croatia. Most of the taxa belong to the Heliophamus and Evarcha genera. The riches localities are the lower courses of the Velika Paklenica and Mala Paklenica rivers and the borderline areas of Paklenica NP.
