Abstract

Review of data and observations relative to radioactive contaminants after nuclear explosions or reactor accidents exposing mankind to ionizing radiation increasing risk of detrimental health effects. In case of reactor accidents as extra-important could be set aside 131^I, 134^Cs, 137^Cs, 89^Sr and 90^Sr. Besides a survey of measures applied in radiological protection International Commission's recommendations are quoted relevant to realisation of optimal radiological protection.
