Abstract
A research on the influence of working speed and structural characteristics of pea harvester threshing device on the quality of work in harvesting green peas was done on the production area of 75 ha in the production conditions of north-western Croatia. Two pea harvesters were investigated, FMC-879 and BIG DRUM 906, varying in pea pod threshing device. These devices were studied at various operating speeds of pea harvester (2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 km/h) and two different ripening stages of pea (110 and 140 0 TV). Losses and grain damage were monitored separately for each harvester. Harvester losses were systematized as harvesting device losses, threshing device losses and total losses. Research findings clearly show that the largest losses for both types of pea harvester at all three speeds are harvesting device losses in the category grain in ripped pea pods, from 3.16 to 7.18 %.
Based on the survey results, it is evident that the greater the speed of pea harvester, the higher plant mass flow through the threshing device, which results in less visible and invisible grain damage, while the losses and impurities are increased.
