Abstract

Presentation is made of the contammotion wiith stone wool aerosols as a cause of the occurrence of subjective oral and other symptoms in workers of Termika from Novi Marof. Eighty workers were examined in total. Oral testings were caried out in each worker and case history data were used in statistical data processing. Specimens of dust from the work place air were analyzed gravimetrically and microscopically. The analysis performed revealed the concentration of contamination with stone wool aerosols to be sufficient for the onset of subjective oral xerostomia (25%), stomatopyrosis (17,5%), altered gustatory sensitivity (15% ), halitosis (15%) and glossopyrosis (5%), and they were more intense in workers with prolonged exposure. A significant difference was observed in workers who had been in a direct daily contact with stone wool as compared to the contol subjects (p < 0.05).
