Abstract

The Lifelong Learning Programme is the biggest EU educational
programme. It is the succesor of the previous educational programmes Socrates and Leonardo da Vinci (1985. – 2006.). In Croatia, it is implemented by the Agency for Mobility and EU programmes. In the article, the objectives of the Programme have been explained and reasons have been stated why the EU launched the Programme. The structure of the Programme is described, with special emphasis on the opportunities for participation in the Programme for institutions and individuals involved in adult education.
Special attention has been paid to the Grundtvig programme. The goals and activities of the Grundtvig programme and its results in the Republic of Croatia are explained in more details. The perspectives of institutions and individuals involved in the adult education, for participation in a new generation of EU educational programmes established for the period 2014. - 2020., are mentioned.
