Abstract

An outbreak of staphylococcal ice cream, poisoning and importance of phage typed staphylococcal strains in the detection of bacterial contaminator source of ice cream 28 patients were registered in an outbreak of staphylococcal ice cream poisoning arising from a confectionary. Staphylococcus aureus of the same phage type was isolated from the samples of ice cream, crem-filled cake and patient's vomit. Many carriers of S. aureus were found by the exploration of the staff, but only the strain from an small digit wound of the owner of incriminated confestionery was the same as the phage typed one isolated from mentioned samples.
