Abstract

The paper will attempt to answer the following questions: Can/should science and art still educate manhood within the man? Is science losing importance in making sense out of our lives? This questions the true meaning and the idea of university. Do new reforms of the university in Europe in the early 21st century mean radicalization of sholarization, respectively, is education becoming less integrative and more one-sided? What is happening today with the autonomy of university and science? To what extent modern university contributes to the cultural self-understanding, dialogue of cultures and education of the intellect, development of a critical spirit?
