Abstract

What is happening to the image, after the new media emerged? As we have seen, the image went through digitalisation, only to become pure information. What Rancière was announcing at the end of the 19th century, until the avant-garde of the twenties in the 20th century, finally succeeded in the age of digitalization – the age that Rancière explains as the confirmation of the project of liberation of art from images. Maybe digitalisation of image is that sort of liberation that he was mentioning. In the digitalization the traditional notion of the painting gets the new field of exploration, related to the new media, consisted of the images themselves. As Kittler would say, media defines our situations and defines what is real. Digitalisation has brought new situation to us, so everything that we knew and understood in old media is being converted and as such having some new possibilities. In other words, everything becomes available and is creating new possibilities, where everything becomes information, and as such circles within the new system, living a new life. In digitalization, finally, the competition between art and technology stops. Advancing and achieving certain technical level is now allowing a creation of the connection point.
